Iran is currently producing 70 types of radiopharmaceuticals for medical treatment, according to Mohammad Eslami, Vice President of Iran and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI). These radiopharmaceuticals are distributed in 230 treatment centers nationwide, serving approximately 85,000 radiology patients through around 6,500 nuclear medicine centers. Eslami emphasized Iran's advancements in nuclear technology and reaffirmed the country's commitment not to pursue the development of nuclear weapons. He discussed the significance of nuclear energy in electricity generation and industrial activities. The context includes the impact of the U.S. withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2018 and subsequent sanctions, which led to reduced monitoring capabilities by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
